Computer Shopper Software Disk
==============================

This disk contains a number of programs for use by DOS
and Windows users. The installation routine on this disk
will copy the files into predetermined directories on your
hard disk. To start the installation routine just type GO
at the A> prompt.

To install Windows programs into your own Windows desktop,
select File New... from the main Program Manager screen.
If you don't remember the exact path and filename of the
Windows program you're installing use the Browse... option
to skip through the programmes you have on your disk.

DOS programs will need to be incorporated into whatever
menu system you use.

BLACK BOX FOR WINDOWS (BWBLKB.ZIP)
==================================
The object of Black Box is to locate all of the marbles which
are hidden somewhere in the game board.  You do this by
firing invisible "rays" into the board.  These rays bounce off
the marbles according to strict rules.  By analyzing where
these rays enter and exit the game board, you can determine
their path and thus the locations of the hidden marbles.  The
faster you find the marbles and the fewer rays you use to do
so, the better your score.

The playing area is a grid of empty spaces surrounded by
marker slots.  Marbles are hidden somewhere in the grid.
You're trying to find those marbles by firing invisible rays
from the marker slots into the grid and deducing the path
of the ray.

Marbles hidden in the grid affect the paths of rays
according to a strict set of rules.  Rays will either not
be able to enter the grid at all, enter and be absorbed
by a marble, enter and be reflected back to its entry
point, or enter and be deflected, exiting at a different
marker slot along the perimeter of the board.

By examing the entry and exit points of these rays, you
can deduce the locations of the hidden marbles.

When you think you know where a marble is, mark
the spot by placing a marble in that space in the grid.
The number of marbles unaccounted for is always
displayed in the status bar beneath the game board.
If you place more marbles on the board than there are
hidden, the status bar will display the number of extra
marbles you need to remove.

When you think you've found all the hidden marbles,
select Guess! from the menu bar to see if you are
correct.  If you're wrong, each incorrect marble will
cause a penalty to be added to your score.

If you can't figure out where the hidden marbles are,
select Give Up! from the menu bar to reveal all the
marbles you haven't discovered.

You have a number of tools to assist you during the
game.  You can locate a ray's entry and exit points.
You can fire test rays to see whether the marbles
you've placed cause any inconsistencies with the real
rays.  And you can seal grid spaces which you believe
do not contain a marble, thus helping to find the
hidden marbles by process of elimination.

WINGUARD (WINGUA.ZIP)
=====================

WinGuard can protect a personal computer running Windows 3.1
from having any of its Program Manager groups or items
rearranged or damaged (accidentally or intentionally).  These
protections would probably be the most useful to someone who is
in charge of a number of computers at a school or business,
though a parent might wish to prevent little fingers on a mouse
from dragging all of the Program Manager icons into a (not so)
nice "happy face"!

WinGuard provides for the automatic setting of any one of seven
different protection levels (actually, eight, including a "zero
protection" setting), as well as allowing the hiding of
"sensitive" programs, such as Windows Setup, Control Panel, or
File Manager, behind its password-protected shell.  WinGuard
also allows the hiding of selected Program Manager groups and
Control Panel icons, restricting access to them to the
authorized user only.

Thus, it can be seen that WinGuard enables the authorized user
to configure the Program Manager interface to allow the guest
user easy access to selected applications, while minimizing the
chances of damage (accidental or intentional) to Windows and the
programs accessible through it.

WINZIP 5.0b (WINZIP.ZIP)
========================
WinZip brings the convenience of Windows to the use of ZIP files
without requiring PKZIP and PKUNZIP.  It features an intuitive
point-and-click drag-and-drop interface for viewing, running,
extracting, adding, deleting, and testing files in archives.  ARJ,
LZH, and ARC files are supported via external programs.  WinZip
interfaces to most virus scanners.

WinZip is extremely easy to use!  To open an archive simply double
click on an archive listed in the File Manager, drag and drop an
archive onto WinZip, or use the standard Open dialog.  The main
WinZip window features a list box with the names, sizes, and
date/time stamps of all files in the open archive.  This list can
be scrolled and sorted on any field.  A tool bar provides fast
access to commonly used actions.  All options (including window
size and position) can be saved and restored.  Extensive context
sensitive help is always available.

Double clicking on a file in the main window has the same effect
as double clicking in the File Manager.  First the file is
extracted from the archive.  If the file is executable, it is run.
Otherwise, the file is opened by the appropriate application (for
example, Windows Write for *.WRI files) based on standard Windows
associations.

The Windows 3.1 Drag and Drop Interface is fully supported.  You
can drag and drop files from WinZip to other applications.  WinZip
will extract the files before dropping them on the target
application.  The target application will treat the files as if
they had been dropped by the File Manager.  You can also drop
archives on WinZip to open them, or drop files on WinZip to add
them to the open archive.

WinZip's unique CheckOut Facility makes it easy to quickly install
files in archives.  Click on the CheckOut button to extract all
files and create a Program Manager group for all files in the
archive.  This group will contain one icon for each file.  Double
click on an icon to view the corresponding file with the
appropriate application.  WinZip will optionally delete the
CheckOut files and Program Manager group.

WinZip requires Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups.  While no
other programs are required for basic operations involving ZIP
files, optional features require one or more external programs,
including PKZIP and PKUNZIP product from PKWARE, Inc, LHA.EXE from
Haruyasu Yoshizaki, or the Shareware ARJ product from Robert Jung.
WinZip interfaces to several programs to access ARC files and
optionally runs most virus scanning utilities.  See the online
help for details.

FAST FAX (FSTFAX.ZIP)
==================
FAstFax 4.0 is a powerful add-on program for Microsoft Word for Windows
6.0 and Delrina WinFax PRO 3.0, 4.0 (and WinFax PRO for Networks) that
will save you and your employees hours of time.

Here's how:

FAstFax scans your document, finds the recipient's name and fax number, and
(using DDE) automatically passes it over to WinFax PRO so you no longer have
to keep TWO separate phonebooks. If you're tired of typing a person's name
and fax number TWICE once on the document and again in the WinFax Phonebook
you will love FAstFax.

FAstFax gives you a thumbnail page preview of your document so you'll always
fax the correct pages and be able to check the final look and layout of your
fax before sending it off.

FAstFax allows you to easily fax an entire document or just the current
page which is great for those quick 1 page faxes.

FAstFax automatically sets the fax driver and resets the printer driver for
you so you don't have to think about driver settings again. And no more
print jobs accidentally sent to the fax modem!

FAstFax allows you to "Fax & Print" with one keystroke. For example, it sets
your fax driver, faxes your document, then re-sets your printer driver, and
prints your document all automatically, all with one keystroke.

FAstFax also handles all of the following dialing prefixes automatically:
Outside line access codes (for example "9"), Local area codes, Long distance
access codes, Local long-distance access codes, and 800 prefix access codes.

Other features include: Cover Pages, File Attachments, Date and Time
Scheduling, WinFax Phonebook Access, Resolution Choice, One Button
Phonebook Entries, and more!

For people already using FAstFax, here's what's new:

Cover Pages and File Attachments. FAstFax 4.0 now allows you to access the
WinFax PRO send screen so you can use WinFax PRO's Cover Pages and File
Attachments.

Date and Time Scheduling. FAstFax 4.0 now allows you to send your faxes
immediately or schedule them for a later date and time. This is especially
useful for taking advantage of the cheaper phone rates late at night.

Print Hard Copy. FAstFax 4.0 now allows you to "Fax & Print" with one
keystroke. For example, it sets your fax driver, faxes your document,
then re-sets your printer driver, and prints your document all
automatically, all with one keystroke.

"Sticky" Default Settings. FAstFax 4.0 now allows you to set your favorite
default settings from within the FAstFax program itself. Whenever you change
a setting, FAstFax remembers were you were so that you will be defaulted to
that setting the next time your run the program. For example, if you always
fax "current page," simply select it one time and FAstFax will always
default to that choice.

Dialing Prefixes. FAstFax 4.0 now handles all of the following dialing
prefixes automatically: Outside line access codes (for example "9"), Local
area codes, Long distance access codes, Local long-distance access codes,
and 800 prefix access codes.

Hidden Identifiers. FAstFax 4.0 now allows you to completely hide your
"hidden identifiers" so you don't even have to see them on the screen.
FAstFax will find the recipient's name and fax number even when you have
hidden text "not showing."

Resolution Choice. FAstFax 4.0 now allows you to send "low resolution" or
"standard" faxes for yet another way to save on long distance phone costs.

Enlarged Page Previewer. Although it's still just a thumbnail sketch, the
page previewer in FAstFax 4.0 has been greatly enlarged to better see the
pages you intend to fax.

WinFax Phonebook Access. FAstFax 4.0 now allows you to access the WinFax
PRO phonebook which means you can use FAstFax like any other
"driver-switching" macro to zoom straight to the WinFax send screen and
select the person from your phonebook you want to fax.

One Button Phonebook Entries. FAstFax 4.0 now allows you to add a person's
name and fax number to the WinFax PRO phonebook without ever having to
retype it. Just run FAstFax with the "Show WinFax Send Screen" on and hit
the "Add to phonebook" button. That's it! The name and number are
automatically entered into your WinFax Phonebook.

MERGE FAX (MRGFAX.ZIP)
======================
MergeFax 2.0 is a powerful new program that allows you to mail-merge group
fax hundreds of PERSONALIZED faxes with Word for Windows 6.0 and WinFax
PRO 3.0, 4.0 (and WinFax PRO for Networks) all with one simple keystroke.

You can now "touch" all of your customers at the stroke of a key, sending
the latest pricing information, special offers, "Thank you" replies, and new
product information. Or send customized graphs, charts, letters, and
up-to-date sales information to all your sales agents in the field. Imagine
this power in your company.

MergeFax is one of those rare programs that will save you and your employees
hours of time. Plus, the date and time scheduling features alone will save
you big bucks by allowing you to schedule your faxes late at night when the
rates are dirt cheap.

Before the creation of MergeFax, the best you could do was "group fax" the
same document to everyone. Ex: "Dear Customer, thank you for your interest
in Ski Chalet products."

The power of MergeFax is that it allows you to use Word for Windows 6.0's
awesome mail-merge features to group fax hundreds of faxes that are
PERSONALIZED to each individual. Ex: "Dear Jim, thank you for your interest
in our winter ski product line." "Dear Joe, thank you for your interest in
our arrow ski downhill racers." Etc.

MergeFax-ing is as simple as these 2 steps:
1. Set up your mail-merge main document.
2. Hit Alt-M and START.
